INFJ (Introverted Intuitive Feeling Judging) is one of the sixteen personality types defined by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) test. INFJ is the believed to be the rarest personality, making up only one percent of the population.
INFJs are idealists. Creative and fair-minded, they see the world not the way it is but the way they think it should be. While they are caring and sympathetic to others’ troubles, INFJs are big-picture thinkers. Rather than help individuals, they look for ways to change the system. They are also energetic, determined, and instinctual, with a tendency to just plunge in and start working rather than make careful plans.
Because of this, INFJs have a tendency to take on the world single-handed, and can become crushed and disillusioned in the face of massive challenges. But many of the great changes in our society have been driven by determined INFJs. Here are some famous people who fit the INFJ type.

Hannah says
Taylor Swift is defintely not an INFJ- INFP is much better. Her music and concerns are centered around her experiences, (introverted feeling). The dominant cognitive function of Introverted intuition and Extroverted Feeling is not seen in Taylor at all.
Toni says
Have you met her ?
Her inner world ?
Spent time with her?
She’s an entertainer (;
Showing us not everything ..
But if your intuitive self thinks she is…
She may be what you feel (;
I'manINFJ says
Right on, Toni! INFJ’s are oceans that can’t be known by the surface alone. After all, so much of who we are is done internally. That’s what makes us such a mystery.
Michelle E. says
So true… sometime too internal, I had to learn to balance that as I got married and when I became a “manager” at work. I had to learn to communicate everything to a T. Which I’m not used too unless it involve expressing feelings ?
Michelle says
Sorry typos… in an Uber as I write… hard to type.
Morgan W. says
LOL I tend to communicate in such detail because most norms don’t understand the depth of thought that has gone in to A subject. Pisses them off because they think I’m talking down to them. I’m really not, I just want to make sure that they understand what I’m talking about.
I mean, how do you make a peanut butter sandwich? (Step-by-step)
I REALLY wish we could communicate telepathically at times.
Vina says
I’m an INFJ, I write anything, including lyrics, just like Taylor, because I can’t express my feelings as I don’t have one, I try to feel by writing, and through music is one of the ways.
Will says
As the R and B signer Sade sang: ” Your so much better than you know”.
ricardo says
you are right
Omnipresent Depth says
By the sounds of it, you seem like someone who pretends to be an INFJ because you inaccurately believe being rare equals being cool.
As an actual INFJ with an INFP roommate and close brother, Taylor Swift is most definitely not an INFJ, but is most definitely an INFP.
marxfits says
By the sound of it, you are the fake INFP.
Ross Craig says
Holy shit this is turning into a psychological thriller
PoisonIvyTx says
Ross Craig- lol! IKR?
So….. Anyone want to unpack the mystery behind why 99% of this convo consists of people clearly offended at the very idea that Tayler Swift would have the same personality as they do…. but no reaction to HITLER… or OSAMA BIN LADEN…… LOLOLOL!!!!! I find this incredibly funny! And equally as concerning…. ? but by all means… PLEASE… carry on. This is riveting!
Dhimas says
But surely, INFJ don’t like conflicts, but taylor? She loves it.
ISTP says
That is your translation of her behaviour. Again – you don’t know what she experiences on the inside!
Scott Giles says
That’s a good point. Conflict is not something this personality seeks often, though such a person may be “entrapped“ in conflict, sometimes for extended periods.
Emanuel says
She probably has last function-Se dominating
Scott says
Taylor Swift is an Enneagram 3. This is why she doesn’t appear like a stereotypical INFJ.
Lucas says
what about Hitler
Omnipresent Depth says
Hitler saw, to himself, what he believed to be the cause of his country’s dire situation, and tried to rid of it. He was also incredibly mentally unstable. Look up what an unhealthy INFJ looks like, you’ll understand Hitler much better.
Omnipresent Depth says
Truth. She most readily shows how conflict affects her in a way that clearly represents Introverted Feeling, not NI and FE.
Morgan W. says
RE: Dhimas says “But surely, INFJ don’t like conflicts, but taylor? She loves it.”
Miss Taylor is a “Right Fighter”, It’s a Challenge! She does tend to fight for what is right, regardless of the consequences. Finding balance in an UNBALANCED world can be very difficult for a INFJ.
INFJ says
Ya, I know in some areas she’s supporter of what is right.
But excuse me if I can’t see any “right fighter” vibe with the conflicts she’s had with Kanye and Katy Perry over so many years … not to mention her relationship with her exs.
Sky says
So maybe she is type 8, the challenger idk if that makes sense …
INJFs are superior says
chile- im an infj and i love conflicts-
amanda says
i have met her, she lives in Tribeca and comes into my job from time to time. she is 100% not an INFJ, INFP actually does sound more like her
Emma says
It’s honestly ridiculous for anyone to ever think they could determine the MB personality type of a person a) they’ve never met and b) died before the test was even developed.
It’s by-definition based on self-report methodology. Who on earth is narcissistic enough to think they know how Ghandi or *Plato* would answer these questions?!
Dani says
Yes! Finally someone said it!! Haha. We can’t possibly know their types; the best we can do is guess. Hell, my own type changed once I got more healthy and honest with myself, so sometimes we can’t even be sure of our own results, nevermind people we have never met. Someone should ask them all to take the 16 Personalities test. I’ve found it crazy accurate.
Enfp says
No she’s an esfj
Sara says
I’m an Infj and only based on one thing I can say she’s not infj… dating. She’s known to be dating lots of people till now. Me as an infj I would not date so many even if they are celebrities. That’s one of the things an infj would not do. We don’t want to open up to so many people specially if your previous relationship didn’t end well. So from that point of view I can say she’s not infj. Look for other celebrities who are 100% infj, you see them barely having relationship, or being in long relationships. Only those who truly know an infj or who is one, will know I am right.
Harry says
I am an INFJ and have dated over 40 women in my 55 dating years. I am very willing, even eager, to open up to others. I disagree that having had many romantic partners is prima facie evidence that a person cannot be an INFJ.
Mr Blue says
Taylor Swift has taken the MBTI test and has spoken about being an INFJ
Omnipresent Depth says
It’s common for somebody who wants attention to pretend to be rare, since they believe rare equals cool. It’s very obvious she’s said so because she is incredibly insecure.
CookieBrain says
That’s a lot of assumptions you made there,
First, you assumed that she wanted attention and hence pretended to be rare?
How does that work out? Why would a person who wants attention pretend to be rare?
Second, you assumed she believes that rare equals cool. Any reasons for that?
Third, you assumed that she is incredibly insecure and hence resorted to entitling herself to the so called rarest personality type. Wow. That sure makes sense.
Now, if she has actually taken the test and the results came out as she being an INFJ, what’s really more to it?
You are arguing that she is lying to which you have no evidence for and is using assumptions to strengthen the same.
Caterpillar says
Are you an INFJ? Doesn’t seem so..
Anonymous Person says
Hey, just a suggestion but like… chill.
INFJ Anne says
Taking the test once or twice does not give any accuracy on your type. Usually you have to take the test several times throughout the time to get closer to your actual type. It is best to study the whole idea behind the MBTI before identifying with a certain type. Test taken once means absolutely nothing. I have seen from close how insecurity can result as a wrong (INFJ) test result when my ex took the test. He clearly was not an INFJ but trembled so much on the questions that got a very mixed result. He is clearly an S-type who does not believe in personality tests. He should take the test again and again over time to finally land on his own type.
Also, I have noticed with several of my INFP friends that they seem to think that INFJ types (by simply existing) deprive some of their uniqueness somehow. They seem troubled when told that there is other types more rare than them. This is a stereotypical trait for the INFP – they dread to be common, and undestood. This is why they often tweak their test result to get the INFJ.
I do not believe that Taylor Swift is an INFJ. It just doesn’t seem to fit.
PoisonIvyTx says
Perfectly put!
PoisonIvyTx says
Sorry- I forgot to specify- CookieBrain- Perfectly put! ?
Miss Green says
Lol.. Omnipresent Depth.
I have the feeling that you are mirroring your own feelings.
You seem like an INFJ who needs to grow and learn and look into him/herself.
We INFJ’s are wise but do not know everything and i think that you assume you know more than you do.
I might be wrong but you do come across that way.
Ps. I think it is human to want to stand out/ to be rare in some way and everyone IS special in their way. It doesn’t mean that people who think like that always need the attention. I honestly like it to be rare as an INFJ and i am proud of it. Doesn’t mean i need to show off and need others’ attention around it. It just makes me realize i am just as special as everyone else.
Craig says
With 16 types wouldn’t it be fair to say all types are rare and unique.
akecheta says
Oh, finally someone who sees this in its´true colours…exactly…everyone is unique, so stop with the Infj BS….everybody has mistakes, nobody is perfect.
Anna says
Honestly when i took the personalitities it was scary accurate and for once I felt understood idk :)
Oliver Clixby says
Miss. Green’s words, beautifully relayed the essence of what I felt whilst reading the comments ‘between the lines’; especially the determined belief that Swift’s an INFJ.
I’d like to think that any genuine INFJ grouping, helps that someone to better understand their ‘unconventional’ way of thinking, as well as the importance of taking considerations of ‘gut instinct’. Then have the strength of conviction to make your voice heard.
There’s amazing, psychologically fascinating traits in all sixteen types. Abilities and emotions that aren’t shared by all. As INFJs, there’s an instinct to try and understand all those character facets that we don’t have! I don’t imagine that’s unique to INFJs though, is it?
No one group should think it necessary to suppress their true feelings; extinguish their inner spirits’ flame or be desperate in desire to change thought processes and how they interact with the world! Pretending to be INFJ is not something I’ve ever understood tbh…
Anaïs says
Funniest thing I’ve read this month.
PoisonIvyTx says
Yes! Hands down! ???
enn says
source? When did she say that?
Heather says
I’d say Taylor is more an ISFP/INFP. She is quite sensory in her ability to play both guitar and piano. She is intuitive in that she writes her own lyrics. She is spontaneous and bounces from relationship to relationship, so her idealism keeps her from settling. A “J” type would stick with a relationship. She may become more “J” the older she gets. And people have layers.
Mon KM says
As an INFJ, I am sensing her as an INFP. INFPs and INFJs are very similar in temperament but our functional stacks are not, however – we process and interact with the world from a different point of reference. She does not strike me as a strong Ni dominant person. INFJs and INFPs also tend to mistype us one another very commonly (stems from how questions are worded in those tests). A lot of musicians/singers/poets/artists are INFPs, seem like.
A. Renee' Holmes says
As I read through these comments, I can see traits of both INFJ and INFP. I just finished reading where a person could be almost evenly P and J. Maybe that’s her. Maybe she’s that way, a bit of both,
Kari Covlurn says
Taylor swift is an INFJ
JT says
IIRC, there is a video on youtube compare between Fe and Fi through an interview with two actors, that should be a good reference and it also easier to observe and analyze than Ni and Ne.
God says
Sorry but its really Stupid what ur sayin. U cant judge about someone you only know from her Music.
A. Renee' Holmes says
Someone mentioned that she took the test and scored INFJ.
William Antonio says
Fix. Taylor is not an INFJ. Her style, her lyrics, her quotes, her demeanor. I would say he is most likely a ES*P, or at least not an IN. Ive been her fans for 3 YEARS. And i myself is an INFJ who, what do u call a person who songwrites in a competitive level? That. And the lyrics doesnt resonate deep like what INFJ usually writes. I dont see that INFJ perfectionism in Taylor as well. Now i know INFJ can control themselves not to show that side, and i know lyrics typically isnt written by the singer themself. but every INFJ that i knew well is perfectionist in crafts like public speech, songwriting, videography, school-stuff, science-stuff, heck even blacksmithing in my case. And INFJ strives for perfection, and when they are forced to present something thats not like, deep, well-thought or what, they will never allow their face as the face that presents that imperfection. They re anti to that stuff. Sorry for any mistakes on my grammar.
A. Renee' Holmes says
I don’t follow her, but your reasoning is accurate. I’m an
INFJ visual artist (narrative painter). Those who see my work tend to express how the paintings make them feel what I feel when painting them. I don’t even try to do anything special like that. It just comes out.
So, I agree with you. One thing we do is not Coreas our feelings through our creative outlet, so listening to her lyrics is telling.
She could’ve blocked that ability. I used to write poetry. But I stopped. I can no longer express myself through creative writing now.
PoisonIvyTx says
We should also consider the possibility of this variation in a person’s behavior in retrospect to a specific personality type could very well be caused by their life experiences and how some of these may have created this variation of sorts? Seems like most people are debating a few things that differ as opposed to anything quite obvious. So it would seem that a person can vary slightly under certain circumstances that would impact something of this nature? Any thoughts?
Viktória Nyíri says
Yes, absolutely, I was shocked to read it, she is so extrovert.
btsYOURUNCLE says
I don’t know about that…I’m an INFJ and we tend to have the most extroverted social qualities among introverts. well it just your perception and every personality type will always have a different guess for her…some are saying see is INFP or INFJ so we can be sure of that.
amanda says
i agree
Rachel says
Agreed.
Gen Paulson says
Michael Jackson is top INFJ yet they don’t list him, shame
Alison Veig says
I am one. I’m not sure this is a good thing.
Jj85 says
Hahaha… agreed????
robynlayne says
Like every other type, and everyone really, I don’t think we as individuals can label anyone else with certainty. It’s not comforting knowing I’m identified in a group including Hitler. Two qualities attributed to us INFJs to keep in mind…
1. Contradictory
2. Extreme (passionate, dramatic, etc.)
These two days qualities alone tell me this is list is accurate or close to it.
And regarding Hitler… He’s been classified an INFJ (he certainly didn’t take an MBTI test). Although I’ll never understand his mindset and how on earth he came to his extremist principles, to I’manINFJ’s point above, to ID an INFJ is like saying you know an iceberg when you’ve only seen the tip. I’d hesitate to conclusively label anyone an INFJ except myself.
Side note: I’m honored to be grouped with Daniel Day-Lewis, I find him fascinating! So much of what he’s said as a person and the lines he’s delivered with near perfection, just tend to resonate with me. Regarding whether or not he’s really an INFJ, my opinion would be yes. Fact, he listened to Eminem almost exclusively while preparing for his role in Gangs of New York!
Omnipresent Depth says
Well said. The only thing I’d change is your usage of “Extreme” to “Internally Extreme.” That is the case most of the time. I feel like if people understood us, we would be much more outwardly extreme. It also depends how comfortable we are with others, as trusting and comfortable are two different things.
Danika says
On the plus side we are extremely unique and we posess some qualities that no one else in the world has. Also, we are perfectionists and won’t stop til we find our match, and we have a depth of meaning and love in our relationships that most people can only dream of. On the down side, this uniqueness and perfectionism makes it hard to find compatibility as we demand a lot from our significant other and usually we are not good at compromising, which is something we have to do in order to maintain a healty realationship.
Our love for others extends past death; the phrase, ’til death do us part’ is not something that applies to us. We can feel both great emotion and yet nothing at all when someone we love dies, because we can see the bigger picture and yet also focus on only those we love.
BBunsen says
Do you know who administered the MBTI to Gandhi, Van Buren, and Hitler? Or Chaucer?
Hearts0fSpace says
Exactly what I was thinking. Just as dumb as assigning IQs to historical figures…

sid says
Amelia Pond from Doctor Who also is not an INFJ, she is most likely and ENFJ instead.
Parks says
Amy Pond is an INFJ. But INFJ’s are sometimes mistaken for extroverts.
Kay says
As an INFJ I can vouch for that. I often describe myself as “The most outgoing introvert you’ll ever meet”. Introverts are typically defined by the fact that being around people for long periods wears them out and they need that alone time to regroup.
Elien says
So I seem to be a INF. I would gladly change the world into a better place … but I wouldn’t be able to kill … the fact that I’m always saying sorry to Sebastien the Spider before I put my shoe on it, proves me that killing people would be way too far. I would rather send them to a remote island or another planet than ordering people to kill. So I do find it hard to believe that Hitler, Bin Laden and Melissandre (GoT) are the same personalities as Mother Theresa and Martin L. King … who are said to be INFJs. Hitler, Bin Laden & Melissandre are quit okay with killing in what they believe to serve the good cause. Obi-wan Kenobi and Jon Snow are shown to not like killing at all, they will do it when there isn’t any other option left. So Hitler doesn’t belong in this list as there isn’t any way to prove. Is Bin Laden checked? And better write a letter to George R R Martin to ask him if Jon Snow and Melissandre (who burns people alive) have the same personality.
Amy says
This was a topic between a group of INFJs and we all agreed that it is possible, because our morals are not command by our type of personality, we can guide our life in good or bad ways being INFJ like all the rest of personalities !
Abigail says
Exactly ,if people read more about our infj mind they will see we can have a dark side And get evil as well
Dena says
I believe we all have good and bad, love and hate in us. The choices we make to show love and compassion or the opposite are what determines our actions/reactions. I don’t like that these monsters are the same personality type as me however I can see the similarities. Life is about choices.
Appallo says
Monster they are, but I can understand where they are coming from. They may have identified what they perceived as a threat and chose the wrong means to eliminate it. As for Taylor, there is no way that anyone can accurately tell her personality type without a test if she is INFJ. However as an INFJ I think my intuition says she is.
Andrew B Brown says
Physical Torture Cubes. Much better than capital punishment.
Hugh G. Rection says
yeah very true I support
Briana says
INFJ’s are driven by a sense of justice and loyalty that will cause them to go to ANY means necessary to do what is right (in their opinion). In Hitler’s mind, he was going to save the world, even if his change was dramatic and bloody
Omnipresent Depth says
Very well stated, but we will always find a better way. For the case of Hitler, he was very mentally unstable, and so he actually chose a god-awful route. He was also full of hatred, and an angry INFJ or INFJ full of hatred is a very cutting and dangerous thing.
Anaïs says
People believe that INFJ are only a melancholic stereotype as described online, and they are even more naive to believe INFJ are harmless…
marxfits says
what dumbo said that?
as a melancholic, dramatic and dumb animal and often harmful degenerate (to myself), i am stumped at the possibility of a proper one even writing these pieces
isn’t there something in the script about the act of exposing a formerly unspoken coexistence?
Declared Insane says
How many INFJs would push the button knowing that they would kill 1000 children to make the world a better place in the present and future? They would take the burden and responsibility upon themselves so the world can be at peace?
They grew up in different circumstances and therefore the goal so peace for the world but they choose different paths depending on the life experience.
Jj85 says
It’s crucial to remember that when people are dehumanized one can do whatever they like to them without remorse. This is key lesson to learn from the atrocities carried out by Nazi Germany; they convinced themselves that Jews were less than human so the German conscience was free to slaughter millions.
Krs says
Never would I imagine hurting a child or any creature —not even a plant, but I do relate to many of these traits related to methodical and fair justice, mercy for all, and a willful desire to make a catalytic difference in society.
Kimberly says
While I am highly disturbed to be grouped with Hitler and I also strongly relate to your behaviors and thinking patterns. Hitler had an extremely clear vision for the world. He was also highly idealistic of this vision. Separating his idealist nature from his ideals is the important part in understanding how he may very well have been an INFJ. Think MLK or Mother Theresa gone horribly awry.
As others have said, there can be a very dark side to INFJs. You may be interested in reading about the “shadow side.” Every personality type has a shadow side and remember you still couldn’t kill a spider :).
Evan Orff says
There’s now a new blog post on the shadow functions at https://www.personalityclub.com/blog/complete-intro-to-mbti-shadow-functions/
Fluttershee says
INFJ here.
I’ve heard that Taylor swift is an ESTP personality type, and that’s the opposite of INFJ personality type, so what’s her type?

Note to self: Do not pursue a career in politics.
Holy crap.
Joseph says
A career in politics could be really bad due to the fact that you are surrounded by people. If you couldn’t get your alone time to recharge then you would go crazy. You could if you’re careful about it. I imagine Hitler had a bad experience with certain ethnicities and was uncontrollably OCD.
PoisonIvyTx says
Holy hell… I cant breathe… ???
Aghhhh?… but for real…. my intuition tells me that a career in politics does NOT seem to be the most optimal choice when trying to avoid things like… ummm… genocide….. or… uhh… mass graves… suicide bombings…. and well, ya know… just murder in general…?
Isa says
I believe that every personality exhibits a duality. As an INFJ, when I was a child I always saw this in people and myself, but thought there was something wrong with me. However, I can also be very black and white as well as grey depending on the situation and my feelings that I am experiencing at that moment.
Sasa says
Yes, I understand you, but after all you can’t be sadistic in the way Hitler was. INFJ after all believe in equality, that all people are same etc.
Gentleman Fox says
I disagree. INFJ’s see both sides of the coin. We see the tree and it’s roots. The visions and symbolisms I see center around equality and humanity. I want humankind to progress. However, to achieve those goals, you have to oppose the group stifling those goals.
All INFJ’s fall somewhere in-between the lightness and the darkness. It’s all subjective. I’m a very kind loving INJF who falls slightly in the darkness.
I don’t agree with killing as Hitler did but I understand his reasoning. I’m gay and have dealt with religious homophobic hate groups my entire life. We (the LGBT) have suffered painstakingly for their belief. We have been bullied, abused both mentally and physically, and murdered – due to are orientation. So, my view point on religious people is much different, compared to a straight INFJ.
Nylorac says
There are a lot of mistypes that get reinforced by people reposting on websites without really looking into the validity of the type. For example, I have seen a number of websites that list Hitler as INFJ, but have also seen good evidence that he was actually an ENFJ.
Anaïs says
Actually, Hitler has been typed by Jung himself as an INFJ. Unfortunately.
And once people get to know the childhood, the intimacy of Hitler and his love story, everybody agrees on the INFJ analysis. There are a considerable amount of clues and hints regarding his cognitive functions…
ESC2367 says
What’s weird… as a pianist composer…
lol who am i kidding, i don’t have the charisma…
but really, Hitler was INFJ. Hands down… i am not proud of this… just like i am not proud of J.K. Rowling being INFJ though i highly doubt her typing. As she is totally transphobic… yet her putting her foot down for how she sees trans folk is really ISFJ at least.
You cannot be phobic of something with out a justified cause and be INFJ.
Maybe she experienced a lover who ended up being trans and they ended up giving trans folk a bad name in her eyes.
But the first chapter of Harry Potter is very much how families treat their child after they come out as trans in a right winged household.
So unless Rowling had a relative who is trans and was really mean to her growing up… she cannot be transphobic and INFJ.
Now this is not some libtard nonsense i am speaking. -_-
INFJs are often very intelligent, however, Hitler and JK Rowling both are INFJ as they have done something immaculate that any of the other 15 types can also do, but not as well thought out.
This doesn’t mean that they are or not… what it does mean is even if they are more darker minded than what the internet perceives us as… remember one thing. We are the most misunderstood typing…
Hell, some INFJs get misunderstood by my words… :3 Offering related Memes make us easier to understand… but it doesn’t grasp the depth of what goes on in our minds.

I always considered myself an ISFJ, but then recently discovered I was an INFJ. I know there are similarities. I was gobsmacked. I’m a writer, a counsellor; I’m intense, highly sensitive, a great believer in justice and a fair suck on the sauce bottle for all.
Master E says
INTJ here…. I feel those whom wish to suck on the sauce bottle should have to purchase the bottle first. A reward is better cherished if earned.
Jo says
I am an INFJ.
Well said Master E. Ha.
Kimberly says
Your quote is highly indicative of an INTJ. I mean that as a compliment. It made me laugh.
Mo Riordan says
Hitler is not an INFJ. From his behavior I believe he was an ENTJ. He was demanding, domineering, insensitive to others and dictatorial. How anyone could think he was an INFJ is beyond me.
Gentleman Fox says
He is an INFJ. A true INFJ can see both the tree and it’s roots. We are subjective creatures who believe our vision of a better world is the ultimate goal. Hitler saw Jews the same way the LGBT views religious homophobic hate groups who murder us. It’s all subjective to each INFJ and their life experiences. I know this being a gay INFJ. I don’t justify murder but I understand his reasoning.
Casey says
Lol at Taylor Swift being an INFJ. Laughter is the only rational response to that categorization. INFJs are all about truth, authenticity, deep meaning, profound connections–Taylor writes catchy pop and country songs with trivial lyrics, carefully calculates her friends and her image, etc. Read about INFJs, and look at who Taylor Swift is. She’s probably an ESFJ or and ESFP, the opposite of an INFJ in fundamental ways.
Scott says
You’re conflating Myers-Briggs type with other personality factors. Taylor is an Enneagram 3, which is why she doesn’t appear like most INFJs and why no one agrees on her type.
Anaïs says
Thank you. Actually she officially has been typed ESFJ.
Hilary Duff is ISFJ. Not an Intuitive type either.
GLADYS ODIASE says
I had always thought I would never have a good relationship. I have no friends but I am always wanting to help other but never ask them for help. I felt I had a problem and started doing research only to find out I am an INFJ…. do we ever get married!
Sasa says
Hitler was a commander or an INTP. There is no way he was an INFJ for a number of reasons.
XC says
INTP does not care that much about politics….they are more like robots, though very cute ones indeed.
Sasa says
And INFJs are somehow spiritual, empatic etc… So Hitler really doesn’t belong here….
run says
INFJ in other words… all the bad people haha. Run away from these people!!.
Maria says
Gee thanks for adding Hitler, the worst human being to ever exist, to the list of people I share a personality type with.

It looks like everyone is forgetting a key topic. We, as people, choose our Destiny. Everything we do is made up of the choices we’ve made in the past. We shouldn’t care if someone like or not like us chose the wrong path of many that there will be in Life. Don’t be afraid that it might be you someday, because You are You and you make your own choices in your Life. Make your own Destiny, don’t let others do it for you.- Hmmm…

Hello, Fellow INFJ’s
Jo says
As an avid MBTI researcher and constant study of pscychology associated to brain function, I am surprised that these celebrities were typed as INFJ. Actually I find that the majority of sites that name celebrities actually in my opinion are way off. They may get 2-3 out of 10. I have delved deep into the science of physical characteristics in association with brain functions, and just by taking into account their aura, their actual facial structure, even the way they look out of their eyes you can determine pretty quickly what they are NOT at least. I’ve watched interviews for hundreds of different celebrities in attempts to correctly type them. It’s not enough to say someone cares about others or others feelings…and then say they must be a feeling type. It’s not that simple. Every type is capable of feeling compassion and care for humanity and every type is capable of having a lot of the same feelings on things then their opposite types- it’s just human nature….one type doesn’t own the feelings of the world just as the other types don’t own thinking and logic. We all display these things. So I don’t think that these actors and celebrities can be so easily typed as INFJ. If they are so rare- we sure have a long list of them who have all become actors. I just have to disagree. Im not the Bible on typing- but I feel I’ve typed most of this list correctly. I’m working on an article now to show the correlation between brain function, physical appearance and body language. It’s actually a very strong tool once you see it at work within the types.
Psyla says
Basing personality type on genetic features immediately shows you don’t know how to type people properly. You are doing it based on illogical stereotypes.
Noel says
I was wondering how’s the article going? Is it possible to read the research?
Mara.J says
Really ….?! Hitler ….come on now. I think based off of just a basic description of an INFJ , anyone can ponder and somewhat conclude that Hitler can’t be member of the type nor should he be associated with it. Wow…It almost seems so insulting and preposterous for this to even be ? Given the fact what INFJ’s stand for and are known for? What they exude , What they feel and believe in, What they do for people.
Confusing passion and drive for change rather from personal agenda ( meaning Hitler’s agenda) as opposed to wanting change to help others and Making it your personal agenda… are two completely different things.
If that makes any sense at all.Which is why I can see why someone can mistakenly categorize Hitler in the INFJ type a little to be honest????. But I don’t believe this is so , I can’t . I don’t like being categorized as having the same personality type as Hitler? When I would never ever want to or would commit such hanus acts towards anything or anyone. Do any other INFJs understand where I’m coming from ? I know everyone and every type has good sides and bad sides. But based on my research so far , The level of “bad” reaching all the way up to Hilter bad for INFJs seems puzzlingly right now?
And Mel Gibson ? Some of the things this man has said were very degrading and controversial to many people and pressing societal issues , now we’re two for two ? Who else is there ?
Smh , i don’t know about all this.I just don’t like the fact if people search up the same thing we all did to get here , trying to learn about INFJs … BAM you see Hitler on the list. As if being misunderstood at times wasn’t an INFJ problem enough.. Which is exactly what happened in a pervious comment here… But anyways
Well, I’m an INFJ, and i’m fairly new to all of this. If i was wrong about anything please forgive my lack of knowledge .I’m also not using my may be ignorance towards this topic as an excuse but more as a indicator that all this is clearly just an opinion and there can be substantial evidence which states otherwise.
Now with that being said … Can anyone tell me some other cool about INFJ’s ?????
Alex says
Mara, for you to fail to see that INFJs can be people who have done terrible things in the past would suggest to me that perhaps you are not an INFJ. Personality type through Myers Briggs, for me, is not about ‘doing good’ or ‘doing bad,’ it is an insight into one’s drives and emotional charges in particular environments and contexts.
Hitler was doing a huge ‘social justice’ in his eyes, with an intense level of passion and belief. That is very typical of an INFJ – just in the same way that Gandhi did and Plato did and Chomsky does., I don’t think where one lies on the political spectrum comes into play at all here.
Forgive me if I am wrong about you.
Adam says
Heh… Yeah-yeah… Hitler is a same human being that have considently or not have INFJ. So what? Let us don’t make any statement or else that push out the stupidity among us… Yeah… because true INFJ surely know what you’re talking about & does no care it… & also does not have time to think about that… To all true INFJ … Live a life, there are someone same as you somewhere… :)
Joesph P. Freije says
Adolf Hitler was NOT an INFJ, whoa, how did you ever get that?? Try ENFP. Jesus was an INFJ. Hitler was a psychiatric case. The MBTI is for NON-psychiatric cases. ESTJ are the most willing to kill type of people.
misscunderstood says
Everyone in here be like, omg, Taylor Swift.
I’m with the guy who said, WHAT ABOUT HITLER?
And was Hitler a healthy version of his INFJ self? One could certainly argue he was successful in sharing his world vision and inspiring others …. if we ignore the fact that his vision was sociopathic and insane
John Kelly says
Duck Hitler, all I know is Taylor Swift is hot and I’m delighted we are soul mates.
Omar Khalil says
How’s Taylor Swift INFJ when she has 100 boyfriends?
Kimberly says
Well, she does have an extensive history of “ghosting” … not that any INFJs are guilty of that. That was meant as kind sarcasm. When I saw Taylor Swift I agree that threw me for a loop.
Kay says
I’m confused as to how these are determined. Just because someone thought so? Is there any actual criteria for how famous people are typed? How can you type a famous person reliably from afar, especially one that’s been dead for awhile? Even Taylor Swift is all over the place with typing (google it). I’m also skeptical when people say that fictional characters have an MBTI type – though they’re made by people, they might not have the consistency of the personality dimensions because they’ve been invented rather than having actual hardwiring in the brain (or nurturing or whatever determines personality). This all seems pretty open to interpretation.
Catalina says
Lauren Mayberry Looks so INFJ
Psyla says
I knew it. Even the INFJ communities were telling me she’s ESFJ. Her poems, her actions, her “door slamming”, her view of herself not matching reality (very common in INFJ’s sadly when their intuition isn’t right on point.) All matches the INFJ.
Psyla says
By “She” I meant Taylor Swift
Gentleman Fox says
I’m inclined to think half the people on this message board are not true INFJ types. This isn’t a popularity contest. A true INFJ wouldn’t cherry-pick people off this INFJ list based on who they are – be it a popstar or a megalomaniac. An INFJ falls somewhere in-between the lightness and the darkness. It’s subject to that INFJ’s life experiences. A true INFJ would know this. As I’ve stated before… An INFJ can see both the tree and it’s roots.
Hans says
I always knew i was apart, i tried so hard to express and explain myself to others but in vain. Then i decided to be as everyone still having this feeling of discomfort inside me, till i read on INFJ. It’ great to know i’m not alone and that there is at least 1% people like me.
LittleHobbit13 says
I agree. INFJ myself, officially tested, and the things people are saying about “INFJs would never ___” is utter crap. INFJs don’t like conflict? BS, if it’s for the right cause or principle, an INFJ would end you in a fight. INFJs could never be dictators? BS, if I think I”m right about something that’s “helpful” or “for group benefit”, I’m absolutely going to push to get others to share that view. Not wanting to group with people who think/act differently? BS, most INFJs enjoy having access to varying perspectives because it helps us fill in the big picture of life and how people work. As you said, Gentleman Fox, INFJs see the roots and the trees.
So Hitler and Bin Laden were INFJs. Deal with it. They manipulated their followers through grand big picture notions and being able to read and exploit emotional needs. That’s *very* INFJ behavior, it’s just unfortunately not being put toward more compassionate purposes. I’m not saying this list is perfect, but dismiss people based on study of functions, not popularity. Like, please, Jon Snow is clearly an Fi-user, not Fe (probs ISFP); and Amy Pond reeks of Se, no way that’s her 4th function (probs ESFP). Just because you don’t personally like someone doesn’t mean they won’t have a valid claim to a type.
End of the day, being an INFJ doesn’t make you a magical unicorn representing all that’s good and pure in the world, and anyone who suggests otherwise is red flagging themselves as non-INFJs. Being rare doesn’t make you superior. There are a lot of non-INFJs claiming to be INFJs in these comments, for sure.
Backseat Driver 112 says
A big double thumbs up to you Gentleman fox!
Your words were my thoughts and spot on.
Quite funny actually reading all these strong and opinionated comments from “INFJ’s” insisting they know for sure – who is and who isn’t an INFJ…
I believe that if you truely are an INFJ – Then you would know that one of your best and strongest traits would be the ability to have an open mind with understanding and acceptance of others and their opinions.
Regardless of how you perceive other people, I’m sure true INFJ’s wouldnt be stating such critical comments highly based on own personal opinions / views.
Jus saying…… ?

Agreed…

Does any have good article or study on Intuitive Personality? As a INFJ with 95ish percent Intuition, just curious about this subject. The only articles I have found is that adults naturally lose Intuition and lean towards Sensing. As I got older, I gone the other way. To the point it’s a huge factor in my life.
Jenn says
Here’s a pretty interesting channel with several videos on INFJs (by an INFJ counselor). Generally you may develop your inferior sensing side to be more well rounded, but that doesn’t mean losing intuition. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHZ4VGwJmKk

What type of personalities were those that became attached and loyal to Hitler …his type was thankfully rare but how did he control others…perhaps this way of categorizing people could help voters decide yes or no on next POTUS …or yes or no on ordering the BLT this time of year…I just know this project has value ?

Its funny when people classify actors as INFJ ..A true INFJ is an actor all the time so you can never be sure about the true self of the INFJ until they actually take the personality test sincerely…and i mean that INFJs can simulate other personalities if they feel like it…Yes they can feel your weaknesses and know what they have to say and do so they can manupulate you in ther own bidding but a true INFJ will use this instinct to help you…That’s why i do not classify Hitler as true INFJ ….

Often I look and talk with non INFJ’s and feel they have never noticed a single real thing in their life except monkey see, monkey do,
Modulators from incest (Hitler) to “Celebrity Shock” Mel Gibson, really throw this B-M type, a confusing and disorientating out modulating distortion bone of light to view them in. the best study case’s are those folks in a rural areas but close to many books and cultures as they have such a huge feeling connection to the world, that actually speaks back to them in ways most don’t even know exist. a case in point is “Vicky” in the book-An Endless Circle of Light” she was not forced to spend years unwinding from the shock of just being born.
I think there are shallow INFJ’s who are very low on the artist/empath /wholesome good taste side scale and zero everywhere else, who should exempt themselves, because they confuse the narrative of a high functioning INFJs.
Kurt Vonnegut is a great example of having been in both sides of this 2 part experience. and I think sagatarius/cancers often suffer the most.
By all means protect your heart with out hurting others and you will arrive home by finding your way there. and a huge parts of that journey is silently slaying the big bad NARC wolves we meet.
Miranda Richardson’s song “First light of Winter” is a great ballad of the INFJ’s struggle with the world and eventual win over the world, when they learn to
council themselves foremost. Accepting most folks are blind and will use you or hate you for having sight.

Hey everyone. I got INFJ on Myers Briggs and a couple other tests. I’m not sure if that’s correct, but a lot of things did make sense to me especially the lack of attention to detail and the door slam.. But I kind of don’t want to be this personality because it’s rare and people seem so defensive of it. I don’t want to be accused of wanting to be special. Or trick myself into acting like what an INFJ is supposed to act like. I just wanted to know more about myself and my family who I also asked to take it.

These ‘Famous people’ MBTI assessments are more like a parlour game version of the typing system – using broad brush assumptions based on the projected image of these people. Unless someone has actually been properly assessed and shown to be of a type, then all these assumptions are invalid nonsense. A good analysis of type also includes an enneagram vector.
INFJ Dukey says
Lots of people getting salty about Taylor being that INFJ! Ya’ll worrying that she is not the same as you or something? Damn.
She done took a test and admitted it! Just like ya’ll did to know you’re an INFJ too. So ya’ll answered the same as she did so boom, INFJ it is so hit that.
Tone down that feeling and judging already LOL

Isn’t Keanu Reeves supposed to be on this list?
Jesse D odd says
Jesus of Nazareth. Hello. INFJ. All the way all day long.
I have a hard time understanding why anybody would care about being an INFJ if that’s not what they were. I found out by a YouTube video that described INFJs and how unique they are and I really didn’t know other people were that different from me. I didn’t fully accept not fitting in with the rest until I learned of my INFJ freak status. I feel great and am no longer wasting energy trying to pass myself off as normal. So liberating…
BTW if you are debating whether or not Taylor Swift is or ain’t this or that then you are probably an INFJ. That seems to be something that would take up space in an INFJ head. Not mine, per se, but I can obsess passionately over things similarly that I have been told are equally as uninteresting.
James says
I’ve tested as an INFJ according to the M-B categorisations. But I am also an academic mathematician and statistician. I’d be interested in their validation methodology, and how they deal with the cultural bias inherent in all such “tests” (including IQ stuff). I should go read their papers I guess.
If it is true that personality is a continuum, then why would anyone assume an individual cannot move along that spectrum, and hence find themselves in another “category” over time? Or, even within the same day? Am I an INFJ forever? Can life circumstances and experiences not bounce me out into, let’s say, ENFJ? And then maybe back again into INFJ?
And who made Myers and Briggs the arbiters of personalities? Surely this is just a psychological theory, right? If you start with the idea that personality is on a spectrum, spectrums are continuous and hence infinite. How did these two decide on chopping up infinity into 16 groups? I see how they did it – they dichotomised over 4 broad areas, and 2^4 = 16. But what if they had decided there were 5 areas? Then we’d be looking at 32 different personality types. Or, what if your personality is not dictated by a simple yes/no, 0/1 for each of these broad areas? What if I have a few E bits, and a few I bits? Which of the two wins? Toss a coin? Or, just make sure there are an odd number of questions for each broad area type in the “test”, so you always get a winner?? lol
Don’t get me wrong, I think it is probably useful for some things. But it is merely a construct to help us pigeonhole people, and where there are pigeonholes there are inevitably problems, because as humans we cannot help but create “other” when we categorise ourselves and then attribute perceived worth to “us” and “them”.
Sorry for the long comment, I find this stuff interesting but also frustrating.
Molly says
It’s not meant to pigeonhole anyone. It’s meant to help us understand ourselves, and each other. It’s a tool, and as with any tool different people will use it in different ways, and for different things, but the tool itself is not responsible for what people choose to do with it.
You should read more about MBTI. Everyone has a point on a spectrum (and spectrums do not have to be infinite) between each of the eight criteria, and there are a lot of misunderstandings about what the criteria truly mean. For example: being an introvert doesn’t mean you don’t enjoy being around people; it just means you get your energy from alone time, or from being around certain people with whom you are more compatible (less conflict = less energy used dealing with conflict).
INFJs are social introverts, and often called the most extroverted of the introverts. We love people, but we need to recover from them (and from some more than others). You can interpret this to mean that we “lean” more introverted than extroverted if you like. We also lean intuitive, but we still use our senses. We lean toward making decisions based on our feelings, but we’re also known to be the most thinking-based feelers and are highly rational people. As to the J, well we like to have things organized and we like to have a plan. These are the natural tendencies of the healthy INFJ. There will always be individual variation, and an unhealthy INFJ will present differently.
It’s worth noting that M & B were both intuitives. From what I’ve seen, intuitives are likely to find more value in MBTI than sensors are, though that might vary depending on how much intuition each sensor has. My mother is a hardcore sensor who thinks it’s a load of crap. My dad was more sensor-leaning and saw some value in MBTI. I’m heavily intuitive and neither of my parents understood me, though they loved me dearly. If they’d known about my personality type, maybe it would have helped a little.
Some of the tests available free online give percentages on each of the criteria. You might find that interesting. I think 16personalities.com also adds in Assertive vs Turbulent.
